I just got to find out that Jiji has just acquired OLX in Nigeria and four other African countries; Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Is this really the way forward for online marketplace?
Earlier in February 2018, OLX , an online global market place with physical presence in more than 40 countries, shut down all OLX offices in Africa except the one in South Africa.
it is no news that OLX is making this deal as they earlier closed their business in Nigeria leading to their workers being laid off but still maintain their online marketplace, perhaps waiting for the Opportunity which has arrived to also sell off the marketplace. Nonetheless, it is a good way for Jiji, a popular and fast-growing online marketplace to spread across to other African countries while also reaching more buyers and sellers in the country.

Now it is believed that OLX reach, combined with Jiji’s own proprietary search and delivery algorithms, will no doubt create a beneficial combination, giving users a radically streamlined experience and making the buying and selling process more convenient.
What do you guys think about this agreement, do you think its a way forward or just Jiji trying to acquire more grounds?
